At Foot Medic™ Group our team of podiatrists are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council to provide foot care for children, adults and the elderly.

What is Routine Podiatry?

You would visit our podiatrist for routine podiatry if you have common skin conditions such as corns, calluses (hard skin) or infections such as athlete's foot (fungal skin infection) warts or verrucae.

Podiatrists also treat toenail complaints such as ingrown, fungal and thickened nails at a routine podiatry appointment.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

History

Your practitioner will take a full medical, medication & lifestyle history if you have never visited the clinic before, or review it if you have. All your information is taken in a private room and stored on our secure database for your privacy & security.

Assessment

Before any treatment, your practitioner will undertake a visual and sometimes physical examination to assess the cause of your condition and the treatment plan they will follow to achieve the best outcome.

Treatment

Once you and our practitioner are happy with the treatment plan, you will be treated in a clean environment, with sterile instruments (if needed) together with the latest technology so we can provide the highest standard of care in-line with evidenced based medicine.

How many treatments will I need?

Simple conditions such as corns and calluses (hard skin) and minor nail complaints are treated in one session.

Recurring conditions and those that need a treatment  plan such as verrucae, fungal infections etc. often need regular treatment.

The treatment regime is determined by your practitioner who will discuss this with you.

Who can receive this treatment?

With a few exceptions, most people will benefit from a routine foot appointment as we always assess your general and lower limb health together with the treatment we provide.

Routine podiatry is as important as regular dental and optical check-ups in maintaining your general health and wellbeing.
